I
Like Mice (knuth)
Some
pets are lots of trouble, they make life so hard.
Cleaning
out the litterbox or shoveling the yard
I
said it once, I’ll say it twice... I... like... mice.
Some
pets might knock you over, playing with a ball.
Some
pets live underwater and they can’t play at all.
So
if you ask... for my advice... I... like... mice.
They
don’t take up all your spaces.
They’ve
got such friendly little faces,
And
though they give some folks the creeps,
I
like mice for keeps.
Some
pets fit in your hand, they’re soft and warm and small.
Some
pets, they barely take up any space at all.
They’re
kinda cute... they’re kinda nice... I... like... mice.
There's
A Train (knuth)
There’s
a train... runnin’ through my head,
'Cause
my brain... is better than a movie,
And
it’s rollin’ down the track...
And
the smoke comes from the stack...
And
the people ride in back...
...Of
the train... I saw once in a book,
And
my brain... turned it into a movie,
And
it’s comin' round the bend,
And
I can’t quite see the end,
And
there’s room for you my friend.
All
aboard...
You
can ride with me, up in the engine.
All
aboard...
Where
should we go today,
All
aboard...
Hauling
lumber, coal and chickens,
All
aboard...
Nothing
gets in the way...
...Of
the train... running through my heart,
over
plains, mountain-sides and cities...
and
it’s big and loud and strong,
and
it’s fifty box-cars long,
and
it plays my favorite song.
Its
my train...
Rainbow
(knuth)
Red,
is what I wore to bed,
Orange
is in my breakfast cup,
Yellow,
is my Daddy’s car and
Green,
the tree that I climbed up.
Blue,
is the summer sky,
Indigo,
my tough new pants
Violet,
are the flowers that I picked for Mom,
So
we can do our rainbow dance.
Red,
orange, yellow and green,
Blue,
indigo and violet.
In
every rainbow that you’ve ever seen,
Shining
beautiful and silent.
It’s A
Beautiful Day
(knuth)
Hey,
it’s a beautiful day,
to
clap your hands, to clap your hands
OK,
it’s a beautiful day
To
clap your hands, to clap your hands.
It
might be sunny, rainy, snowy, cold or hot,
But
clap your hands with everything you’ve got .
Stomp
your feet!...
Wave
Hello!...
...Shake
your hips, just like this,
do
the swim, jump right in,
Hop
like a frog, Flap your wings,
And
keep on dancin...
...and
all fall down.
Anna-Lee
(knuth,
based
on particularly amazing
version
of the traditional song “Stack-o-Lee”)
Mommy
and Daddy, how can it be,
You
can punish everybody but cruel Anna-Lee?
That
bad girl, Oh Cruel Anna-Lee.
Sittin’
in the sandbox, here comes Anna-Lee,
Takin’
all my favorite trucks, and kickin’ sand at me,
That
bad girl, Oh Cruel Anna-Lee.
Cut
it out now Anna-Lee, you know I got here first,
Now
we’re rollin’ in the sand and things are gettin’
worse,
That
bad girl, Oh Cruel Anna-Lee.
How
can this be my fault, it all seems so unfair,
But
just as Mommy turns around, I’m pullin’ Anna’s hair,
That
bad girl, Oh Cruel Anna-Lee.
Now
I’m in my bedroom, punishments been made,
Anna’s
sittin’ on the porch, just sippin’ lemonade,
That
bad girl, Oh Cruel Anna-Lee.
Lizard On My
Leg
(knuth)
There’s
a lizard on my leg and he’s my friend,
He
hatched out of an egg and he’s my friend,
So
I took his lizard hand and then I let him join the band,
The
lizard on my leg he is my friend
There’s
a hampster in my hair and he’s my friend,
I
don’t know what he’s doing there and he’s my friend,
So
I took his hamster hand and then I let him join the band,
The
hamster in my hair he is my friend.
There’s
a snake inside my sock and he’s my friend,
I
found him underneath a rock and he’s my friend,
So
I took his snakey hand and then I let him join the band,
The
snake inside my sock he is my friend
There’s
an owl on my arm and he’s my friend,
He
wouldn’t do me any harm and he’s my friend,
So
I took his owly hand and then I let him join the band,
The
owl on my arm he is my friend...
Now
I’ve got a rockin’ band with all my friends,
It
wasn’t really planned but they’re my friends,
And
the people come around just to hear our special sound,
And
that’s the way our little story ends.
Little Robot
(knuth)
I’ve
got a little robot,
I
made him out of cans,
He
hardly ever follows my commands
But
still I really like him,
And
lately we’ve been making lot’s of plans.
He’s
not too good at walking
His
legs aren’t very strong.
And
he just sits there when I sing this song.
But
maybe if i push his buttons right,
He
can
learn to sing along.
I
guess there must be places,
With
special robot schools,
And
stores for buying robot building tools.
And
someday I could go there, and build a better robot,
But
I’m not in a hurry, there’s still a lot to do here,
It’s
really just beginning, my robot’s getting better,
So
right now where I am is pretty cool.
Dancin’
In The Barn

Cluck,
Oink, Moo, Baa, Neigh go the animals...
Telephone
(knuth)
(for my mom)
I
was eatin’ my breakfast when the telephone rang,
I
put my waffle down.
“Now
who could it be, botherin me?”
I
wondered with a frown.
I
picked it up, to say hello but I never said a word.
A
voice on the phone said “Tweet, tweet, tweet”,
It
must have been a bird.
tweet, tweet, tweet, tweetily, tweet”,
Was
all that he could say,
“Tweet,
tweet, tweet, tweet, tweetily, tweet”,
I
wish he’d go away.
I
was eatin’ my lunch when the telephone rang,
I
put my potato chips down.
“Now
who could it be, botherin me?”
I
wondered with a frown.
I
picked it up, to say hello and i nearly dropped my hat.
A
voice on the phone said “Meow, meow, meow”,
It
must have been a
cat.
“Meow,
meow, meow, meow, meowity, meow”,
Was
all that he could say,
“Meow,
meow, meow, meow, meowity, meow”, I wish he’d go away.
I
was eatin’ my dinner when the telephone rang,
I
put my spaghetti down.
“Now
who could it be, botherin me?”
I
wondered with a frown.
I
picked it up, to say hello and I nearly started cryin’
A
voice on the phone said “Roar, roar, roar”,
It
must have been a lion.
“Roar,
roar, roar, roar, roarity, roar”,
Was
all that he could say,
“Roar,
roar, roar, roar, roarity, roar”,
I
wish he’d go away.
I
was brushin’ my teeth when the telephone rang,
I
put my toothpaste down.
“Now
who could it be, botherin me?”
I
wondered with a frown.
I
picked it up, to say hello, I was feelin’ kinda glum,
A
voice on the phone said “Hello Dear”,
And
I sad “Hello Mom!”
That’s
How (knuth)
What’s
inside of everybody’s body?
What’s
the reason that we don’ fall down?
Underneath
your hair and skin,
You’re
a dancing skeleton.
And
that’s how you move around.
Yeah,
that’s how you move around.
You’ve
got toes that wiggle in the water,
You’ve
got ankles just above the ground,
Knees
that bend inside your pants,
Hips
that swivel when you dance,
And
that’s how you move around,
Yeah,
that’s how you move around.
You’ve
got shoulders shrugging off your sweater,
You’ve
got elbows flapping up and down,
You’ve
got wrists to help you clap,
You’ve
got fingers make ‘em snap,
And
that’s how you move around,
Yeah,
that’s how you move around.
Running
from your head down to your tailbone,
The
spine connects it all up I have found,
There’s
just one other bony thing,
The
jaw that lets you eat and sing.
And
that’s how you move around,
Yeah,
that’s how you move around.
Curious Planet
(knuth)
Curious
planet, with oceans that span it,
It’s
wild and wide and mysterious.
Curious
planet, just water and granite,
But
something is starting to worry us.
Why
don’t you stick around,
We’re
taking samples from the ground,
To
analyze back in the lab,
So
maybe we can understand this...
Curious
planet, the monkeys who man it,
Are
crabby and flabby and furious.
Curious
planet, it flames and they fan it,
I
don’t understand what the hurry was.
We’ve
got some cameras there,
They’re
taking pictures from the air,
And
beaming back, the things they find,
So
maybe we can leave behind this...
Curious
planet, I don’t understand it,
It
used to be green and luxurious.
Curious
planet, the reptiles who ran it,
They
turned it and burned it like all the rest.
...just
like all the rest.
Froggies
(knuth)
Sleeping,
sleeping,
The
frogs all snore away.
With
sleepy grins and slippery skins,
They
snooze away the day.
But
when the sun sinks out of sight,
And
the moon is on the rise,
The
frogs all stretch and open up their eyes.
And
they go RIBBIT,RIBBIT, RIBBIT, RIBBIT,
They
dance and sing all night.
The
frogs all have a party, And everyones invited,
They
go RIBBIT,RIBBIT, RIBBIT, RIBBIT,
They
hop and splash and leap,
But
when the sun comes up again,
They
know they should be...
Sleeping,
sleeping,
The
frogs are counting sheep.
One,
two, three, four, five, six, seven,
The
mud is cool and deep.
But
when the day turns into night,
and
the stars are shimmering,
The
frogs climb on their lilypads and sing.
And
they say...RIBBIT,RIBBIT, RIBBIT, RIBBIT,
The
only song they know.
The
little guys sing way up high,
The
big guys sing down low.
And
they say RIBBIT,RIBBIT, RIBBIT, RIBBIT,
They
jump and flip and creep.
Till
morning come around again,
And
all good frogs are...
Sleeping,
sleeping,
It’s
sunny warm and bright.
The
birds and fish are wide awake,
But
frogs were up all night.
So
they curl up in the shade,
And
they dream their froggy dreams,
And
they wait until the moonlight softly beams.
And
they go RIBBIT,RIBBIT, RIBBIT, RIBBIT,
It’s
what they like the best.
They
blink their eyes and catch their flies,
And
puff their little chests.
And
they go RIBBIT,RIBBIT, RIBBIT, RIBBIT,
Cause
that’s what froggies do,
And
if you were a froggy,
Then
you could do it too.
